A thief was caught in a Lagos community after the residents set fire to the bush he was hiding in. A burglar who was chased into a bush was smoked out by residents who set fire to the bush.
The incident happened in Jabe, a community at Gberigbe, Ikorodu, Lagos State, which, according to residents, had been terrorised by thieves for many months. On the day the unfortunate bandit and his gang stormed the community, the resident were waiting for them and chased after them and while others escaped, the captured thief ran into the bush to hide but the residents would not give up the chase as they surrounded the bush and set set fire to it.
The smoke and the heat of the fire therefore forced the man to run out into the hands of residents who descended on him and would have lynched him but for the response of a team of policemen from Ijede Division, who rescued him and took him away.
